Biography
Mayesha is a Ph.D. Candidate in Bioengineering in the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department at the University of Notre Dame. She has a Master's degree in Bioengineering from Notre Dame, and her B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Her Doctoral research focuses on understanding the significance of calcium signaling in the morphogenesis and organogenesis. To delve into the manipulation of calcium dynamics, she employes a variety of methodologies, including optogenetics and mechanosensitive cell membrane channels (such as Piezo). In her investigations, she utilizes Drosophila melanogaster as a model organizm, acting as a platform for studying organ development.
