Biography

Nathan earned his bachelor's (2023) and master's (2024) degrees in Biomedical Engineering from Marquette University, where he also competed for 5 years on the Men's Tennis team. His thesis research took place in a neuromodulation lab, where he created a closed loop controller to modulate optogenetic stimulation using a real time EMG feedback loop in a mouse model. He joined the Zorlutuna Lab in the fall of 2025, where he works to leverage the electrical properties, and low-energy demand, of cardiomyocytes and fibroblasts to create biologic neural networks capable of solving complex combinatorial problems that pose challenges for silicon-based networks.
